Which size fits
Shingles are heavy, not bulky, so weight decides the bill more than space. A square of asphalt shingles weighs about 250 to 400 lbs, which means the 1 ton included with a 12 yard covers roughly 5 to 8 squares and the 2 tons included with a 20 yard cover roughly 10 to 16. Bigger roofs are no problem; the extra weight bills at $160 per ton off the real scale ticket.

For a bigger roof, the 20 yard gives you more room and more included weight, and anything past the included tons bills at $160 per ton after weigh-in. A two-layer tear-off doubles the weight.

Can the dumpster sit close to the house?
Yes. Crews want the box under the roof edge so debris goes straight in. We place tight to the structure where the driveway allows, and we board the surface so the container never touches your pavement.
