A local truck, not a broker
Trumbull’s colonials and split-levels from Long Hill to Tashua produce classic renovation projects: kitchens, roofs, finished basements. Wide suburban driveways make placement easy, and we can usually tuck a container so the garage stays usable.
Neighborhoods we work regularly: Long Hill, Nichols, Tashua, and everywhere in between.

The houses in Trumbull, and what they mean for your dumpster
Trumbull has about 12,800 homes, and the typical one was built around 1965. 51% were built between 1940 and 1969: the postwar capes, ranches, and colonials that are now due for new kitchens, baths, and roofs. 84% are single-family detached houses, so nearly every job here has its own driveway to work with. 90% of households own their home.
- Count roof layers. Many postwar roofs were re-shingled right over the original layer. For a single layer, figure about 5 to 8 squares in a 12 yard and 10 to 16 in a 20 yard; a two-layer tear-off fits roughly half that, so size by squares and layers, not by how the pile looks.
- Check for asbestos first. About 73% of Trumbull homes were built before 1980, when asbestos still turned up in floor tile, pipe insulation, and some siding and roofing. Asbestos cannot go in any dumpster: have suspect material tested, and removed by a licensed abatement contractor, before demolition starts.
- Cleanouts. The median home here has 6.9 rooms. A whole-house cleanout at that size usually calls for a 30 yard; one floor, a garage, or a basement fits a 20.

Know before you book in Trumbull
- From our yard
- Trumbull is about 9 miles and 18 minutes from 81 Munson Street by road, which is why it sits on our regular routes.
- Paint and chemicals
- Trumbull, Monroe, and Easton share one Household Hazardous Waste day each fall at 307 Indian Ledge Park Drive, and oil and latex paint are accepted. Bring a Connecticut driver’s license.
What is different about Trumbull placements
- Trumbull is low hills and steep ridges over well-defined valleys, topping out around 520 feet at Tashua and Booth Hill. Sloped driveways are common, so tell us about the grade; the container has to sit level, and on a steep drive that may mean the bottom.
- The town plan calls tree-lined streets a defining part of Trumbull. The truck needs about 20 feet of overhead clearance to set the container, so check the limbs over the driveway before delivery day.
- About 62 percent of Trumbull homes were built between 1950 and 1979, and the town is nearly built out. Kitchens, baths, roofs, and basements in those houses are the classic 12 or 20 yard job.
Storms, floods, and cleanups in Trumbull
- Inland flooding recurs along the Pequonnock River at Trumbull Center near Daniels Farm Road, around Twin Brooks Park, and west of Route 127 south of Unity Park, and most often along Horse Tavern Brook at Chestnut Hill Road and Blackhouse Road. The September 25, 2018 storm dropped 7.32 inches of rain on town. Basement flood debris is wet and heavy, so size by weight.
What Trumbull curbside pickup will not take
- Trumbull’s free Large Item Pickup is one appointment per household per year, spring through September, and the 2026 season was fully booked by September 1. If you missed it, or have more than one pickup holds, a container clears it now.
- The town pickup will not take tile, toilets, shingles, drywall, insulation, concrete, or stone, and nothing wood or metal longer than 4 feet, bagged, or boxed. That is remodel debris, and it is what our dumpsters are for.
- Loose-leaf collection for 2026 is expected to start November 4, working clockwise from Lake Avenue. Leave the leaves to the town; brush, old fencing, and sheds go in the container.
Timing your Trumbull rental
- When a winter parking ban is declared, every vehicle has to be off every Trumbull street, and the town asks that bins stay out of the road so plows can pass. If the container fills your driveway in winter, have a plan for the cars.
- Plows clear main roads first, then side streets, and dead ends last. On a dead end, expect winter swaps and pickups to wait until the plow has been through.
